Rather disappointing
Good selection and capture of DAB signal. Quite easy to use.
Sound is rather woolly and "boxy", but acceptable for bedside listening. Having two stereo speakers in a box 10 inches wide seems pointless. The unit has a clock and Sleep facility, but surprisingly no Alarm function. Display is very bright in a dark room and a dim facility would be useful.
See also the reviews of the identical product in light wood finish.

Superb for the environment it's designed for.

Great DAB radio - cheaper in M&S

I did a lot of searching for best price on this radio. Just before I was going to order online, I popped into a large Marks and Spencer (with the wife on a supremely dull shopping trip) and to my surprise this was on sale for £48.90. Bargain! I love Amazon, but the price was too good to miss.

Great starter pack

We... Sorry... Santa brought this for my 8 year old daughter for Christmas and she absolutely loves it. It represents fantastic value for money and has everything you need to get started right out of the box (Guitar, Amp, Strap, Gig Back, Tutorial DVD and even picks!) Only think it doesn't have is a stand... but that really would be pushing my luck!

iRiver Story ebook reader
iRiver eBook Reader - Electronic Book Reader
I bought the iRiver Story e reader for myself and have been using it for a few days only. I like the style and feel of the reader. It has the features I expected. It did not come with an SD card. The manual recommends a Sandisk or Transcend card. There is no mains charger but the reader charges automatically if you connect it to a computer with the usb lead. Contrary to another review I read, my iRiver Story displays Adobe / pdf files perfectly and I have read a couple of ebooks on it already. The screen is approx 9 x 12 cm so text on A4 documents is going to appear smaller and good reading eyesight is necessary. A portrait / landscape button enables you to rotate the document 90 degrees enlarging the image so you can read half a page at a time. There is a zoom button but it only has 4 steps. A slider would be better to fit the image to the screen. E readers are great for reading books when the computer is not switched on. I use it at meal times and while in bed. The iRiver also makes a great mp3 music player which I tested with a pair of Pioneer headphones. There are volume buttons on the keyboard.

Ebook Reader
Received 1 of these as a birthday present, I was sceptical at first but once I got used to the completely different sensation of reading from its screen I love it, very easy to use and download the books, if only the price of the books was cheaper.

Needed a new Monitor NOW!

My old monitor dropped dead. I needed a new one immediately as I needed to sort-out my banking and NOT tomorrow! Bought the LG W2261VP locally as the price looked ok for its specifications, and it is. All required cables included, nothing missing or non-standard. But no instructions, only a CD! How am I going to read the instructions? 'Cos I don't have a monitor connected on which to read the instructions! In a good old loop! (Or Catch 22 - I actually read the book 45 years ago so I know what Catch 22 means!!) Anyway, I digress.
Ok, so just connect everything in sight. Did that but couldn't figure out why the monitor kept switching on and off. Checked the mains cable - ok. (And pleased to find it is connected directly to mains - not via a clumsy transformer box). I eventually spotted the on/off thingy which only seems to need the presence of your hand near to it to accuate it. Well everything worked fine and so I was able to load the CD and read the instructions - which I hardly needed anyway!

I bought this for my 10 year old daughter, to see how she gets on with a keyboard.
The first impressions are it's great!
The key lighting facility means that complete novices (which is the whole family) have a chance to begin to play a tune, instead of just hammering keys.
At this stage, I would highly recommend it.

Good hardware, beware of TomTom Home

I got this because it did everything I wanted, had LIVE but wasn't as expensive as the Go models. Turned it on, found GPS very quickly and downloaded traffic updates brilliantly.

Then I did what was asked and tried to update the maps and the firmware with TomTom HOME....I have a Vista machine and it all went fine, said that it had downloaded all of the updates and latest map and then on rebooting it froze at startup, therefore making the satnav a complete brick.

I did everything TomTom support told me to do but to no avail at all. I was on the verge of sending it back as faulty when I happened to find an article which said that if you use a wireless connection for your internet, TomTom HOME has real problems updating the satnav and doesn't do it properly and therefore, you should use a wired connection to update.

I did this and, hey presto, it is working again as before.

Worth every penny.

Im a long distance lorry driver so need a satnav to find my destinations. The navigation on this unit is accurate & concise, but when I needed to upgrade recently I thought I would try the Live IQ Traffic model. All I can say is 'Fantastic', it keeps you updated about problems ahead & also can re-route you to save time & fuel.
I fully recommend this model.

I've had this Sony ipod alarm clock for around 4 months now and I must say I am relatively impressed. Sure you may think it is quite pricey for an alarm clock but rest assured it does so much more. I personally was sick of the horrible tin can sound of my old alarm clock and decided that I wanted to wake up to something that actually sounded decent. Don't let the 3W RMS fool you, this alarm clock packs a punch and surprisingly a decent amount of undistorted bass (providing you don't crank it up to its maximum volume - and even then distortion only occurs in songs with a prominant bass track. The sound is also surprisingly expansive for such a small unit and would happily fill a small room - though you wouldnt want to replace your hifi.

Thanks to the very specific reviews on Amazon in respect of looking for the Mk2 (thanks guys on .com) I took a leap of faith and bought this, and I'm glad to say it has delivered what I needed for my iPhone 3G.

I hate having to faff-around and was in the position of having to remove the silicone skin I have on the phone to put it into the 3G dock at night (even though it is quite thin). For me it's rendered the official dock (and extra cost!) rather obsolete but that's another story...

The adjustable wheel on this Sony has solved the problem and has allowed me to listen to all my podcasts easily.
